Woburn Abbey has been home to the Dukes of Bedford for more than 300 years. It is set in an impressive 3,000 acre deer park and is home to one of the most impressive and important private art collections. Then we travel through the safari park to see lions, tigers, hippos, giraffes and apes at close quarters. There’s also a foot safari for the more energetic.

Our first stop is at Stonham Barns where there are a number of craft and traditional shops It is also home to the wonderful Suffolk Owl Sanctuary. Our visit allows time to take in a meal and a flying demonstration (weather permitting) or a talk about these wonderful birds. Then, via the scenic route, we head for the picturesque market town of Diss where you will have plenty of time to enjoy the views over the six acre Mere, or to stroll around the shops, in one of the loveliest towns in the region. For centuries the lovely Suffolk town of Sudbury was well known for its weaving and silk industries. It was also home to the famous artist Thomas Gainsborough. The main shopping area of the town, North Street, contains a wide selection of shops and was often used as a location for the popular TV series Lovejoy. We travel onwards to spend a while in the picturesque nearby village of Long Melford before we travel homewards via the pretty route through Bures.

We visit the real working farm in rural Norfolk where hens run loose in the yard, horses work in the fields and there are usually pigs galore. Wander around the farm or feed the animals and follow the trail around the fields. Adjacent to the farm is the Victorian Workhouse. Discover how families were split up, the drudgery of daily life and how punishments were administered for even the most minor of misdemeanors, visit the atmospheric shops, the Victorian schoolroom and the 1950s parlour.

We head for the south coast to the elegant seaside resort of Eastbourne which is situated at the foot of the South Downs in Sussex. See the Victorian pier, the award-winning Sovereign Harbour, the Redoubt Fortress, or the picturesque Princes Park or the unusual and secluded Italian lawned gardens. The 1930s bandstand and the Carpet Gardens are the centrepiece of Eastbourne’s promenade.

Visit the castle frequented on a regular basis by Henry VIII in Tudor times. Built in 1119, Leeds Castle and its grounds, situated on an island in Kent, is now a popular visitor attraction housing magnificent collections of tapestries, furnishings and paintings. We head to north Norfolk to offer you the choice of two of the most popular seaside resorts in the region. Sheringham is home to the Poppy Line, a 10.5 mile steam railway ride through some beautiful scenery. The town also has a fine array of shops and restaurants. The Glenn Miller Tribute Orchestra will be waiting to entertain you at the stunning location of Kentwell Hall in Suffolk. This evening outdoor concert will provide a nostalgic look back at the Big Band era. 1940’s dress is optional or you may choose to join in the Jitterbug and Jive lessons prior to the concert. Then it’s off round Shotley Point towards Parkeston Quay where we turn around to sail back to Ipswich. This three and a half hour cruise has a commentary one way. A pleasant part-day trip to Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum near Coggeshall.
